Muñoz notifies the judge of the non-payment of a sponsorship agreement with BlueBay

The judicial administrator of Málaga, José María Muñoz, notified in writing to the court that is instructing the ‘Al Thani case’ of the existence of an advertising contract signed in its day between the club and the hotel company BlueBay for an amount of 2.65 million euros, amount of which there is no subscription in the club. This agreement, signed in 2013 and announced at the time by the Blue and White club, was valid for two seasons (2013-14 and 2014-15), but BlueBay advertising only appeared on the back of the Blue and White team jerseys, under the number, during the first of these two campaigns.

The letter sent by José María Muñoz to the judge, pointed out by the SER, states that the payment of the amounts agreed in that contract does not appear in the club's accounts and now it will be the court that determines whether to investigate this fact.

Malaga made public on July 23, 2013 the sponsorship agreement for two years, signed by the then vice president of the club, Moayad Shatat, and the general director of the BlueBay Group, Joaquim Janer. In the announcement made by the blue and white entity, it was reflected that the collaboration between the hotel company and Málaga had already started the previous season.

The advertising contract included, in addition to the advertising on the back of the shirt, “the renovation of the hotel chain in the U Televisiva of the La Rosaleda stadium during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns”, According to the club.

At that time, BlueBay had assumed a very leading role in the management of the entity after the abandonment to which Sheikh Al Thani subjected the club. It was the period in which it was signed the sale of 49 percent of the shares of Al Thani to the hotel company that later generated a legal battle that it has a judgment favorable to BlueBay that the sheikh has appealed.

Now, in his work of control and examination of all the efforts carried out in the club in recent years, José María Muñoz has detected this anomaly and the non-payment of said agreement and has brought it to the attention of the judge, which will be the one that will mark the steps to follow on this matter.
