Muñoz and Ortolá get on the podium in Veijer’s victory in Moto3

Dani Holgado saves the lead due to the fall of David Alonso when he was leading

MADRID, 28 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Dutch rider Collin Veijer (Husqvarna) won this Sunday the victory in the Moto3 race of the Gran Premio Estrella Galicia 0.0 of Spain, the fourth round of the motorcycle World Championship, ahead of the Spaniards David Muñoz (KTM) and Iván Ortolá (KTM), while Dani Holgado (GasGas), seventh, managed to retain the lead due to the fall of the Colombian David Alonso (CFMoto) in the first lap when he was leading.

In a fast-paced race, Veijer defended himself against the final attacks of the Andalusian Muñoz, who dreamed of a victory at home, and won by 45 thousandths over the Spaniard. Ortolá, for his part, completed the podium in Jerez.

Meanwhile, Holgado managed to climb from eighteenth to seventh place to remain the leader of Moto3 with 74 points, six more than an unfortunate David Alonso, while Veijer has risen to third place overall, 28 units behind the first classified (46). .

The surprise came at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit in the first of the 19 laps of the small displacement race. In turn 13, Saturday’s poleman and main pursuer of the leader, the Colombian David Alonso (CFMoto), crashed when he was leading and was forced to rejoin the tail.

Alonso’s incident allowed the Spanish David Muñoz (KTM) to rise to first position; Dani Holgado (GasGas), who suffered a hard fall in qualifying that caused him to start eighteenth, was breathing while he continued to climb positions.

The Sevillian was joined in the lead by his compatriots Iván Ortolá (KTM) and Joel Esteban (CFMoto), the Australian Joel Kelso (KTM), the Japanese Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM) and the Dutchman Collin Veijer (Husqvarna). The Dutchman took the lead just a few laps later, and Ortolá overtook Brenes to take second, although they would later exchange positions again.

Holgado managed to connect with the leading group with six laps remaining, while Alonso was already twelfth and reduced the points loss. For their part, Veijer, Muñoz and Ortolá managed to distance themselves in the last laps, and thus the positions were maintained despite the attempts of the Sevillian.

Meanwhile, Adrián Fernández (Honda) finished sixth, just ahead of Holgado, benefiting from a fall on the last lap by Joel Esteban (CFMoto), who failed to finish. Ángel Piqueras (Honda) finished tenth, David Almansa (Honda) was fifteenth, Vicente Pérez (KTM) sixteenth and Xabi Zurutuza (KTM) twenty-second.
