Muñiz Fernández aspires to enter the management of Talavera

Six years after hanging the whistle, César Muñiz Fernández prepares to make the jump from arbitration to law firms. The former Asturian colleague (although born in Brussels) heads a group of investors interested in enter as majority shareholders of Talavera, a club that addresses its transformation into a Sports Public Limited Company (SAD). Muñiz (50 years old) is the most recognizable face of that team that would take over the management of the club. A business group from the city works with him.

The Blue and Whites' entity has called its members to an Extraordinary Assembly next Tuesday, June 9, to discuss the club's conversion into SAD and put it to a vote. The appointment is scheduled on the tennis courts attached to El Prado, to facilitate the attendance of as many members as possible in an outdoor space complying with the regulations of Phase 2 of the de-escalation. Attendees must keep the distance of two meters and wear a mask.

Talavera will compete again next season in Segunda B. An exercise in which El Prado will debut turf. Green replacement work began on May 19.

The sports project has a roadmap of two or three years to consolidate the team in Second B and the horizon set to try to reach professional football. For the coaching position, former Atlético de Madrid soccer player Milinko Pantic, Víctor Cea and Lolo Escobar are the names that have transpired to succeed the blue and white bench to Fran Alcoy, who recently parted ways with Talavera after six seasons at the Talabrican club. Of the three candidates, Cea is the one with the most experience in the category.

Muñiz Fernández retired from arbitration at the end of the 2013-2014 season after 14 campaigns in the First Division. He directed 252 games and is the fifth referee with the most games in the top flight, after Undiano Mallenco (348 games), Iturralde González (291), Pérez Lasa (276) and Mejuto González (262).
