Müller blames Löw for elimination from Euro

Thomas Müller does not seem to have digested too well the premature elimination of the German team in the round of 16 of the European Championship from England (2-0). In statements collected by numerous German media, the Bayern Munich striker admitted that he was still “quite frustrated” despite the week that has already passed since the defeat against the British team at Wembley. Müller believes that Germany fell “deservedly”, but he did not hesitate to criticize coach Joachim Löw's tactical approach.

“We lacked efficiency at both ends of the field”, he said after the Mannschaft only won one victory out of the four games it played in the continental event. “We failed to focus on trying not to concede a goal and opting for a rather passive defensive strategy focused on solidity,” Müller explained, thus fueling the tactical concept proposed by the already former German coach, Joachim Löw.

In any case, the 2014 world champion believes the team was not at fault: “The staff I met had the quality, desire and work philosophy necessary to return to the successes of the past”, added a Müller to whom Löw, after vetoing him after the World Cup failure in 2018, recovered for the European Championship. At the moment, the 31-year-old has not made a decision about his future in the team that has already been taken over by his former Bayern coach, Hansi Flick.
