Muguruza: “I get along well with Nadal and he is a benchmark”

The Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza admitted that she maintains a good relationship with his compatriot and world number two Rafael Nadal and assured that it is a reference for her. “I get along well with him and when we cross paths we talk a little about tennis or how we feel in the tournament we are playing”added the current Australian Open finalist in an interview with COPE.

The two Grand Slam champion recounted an anecdote that she lived in the last edition in Melbourne Park, in which she commented that she went to the tennis player from Manacor in search of a solution to her sleep problems when she was in the quarterfinal round and that Nadal told her that, like her, nothing could be done about it. The tennis player born in Caracas (Venezuela) also analyzed her evolution since he began his professional career and highlighted his improvement in terms of the ability to communicate and listen.

“Before I was more rebellious and with the passage of time I have learned much more to have a different perspective: share and not stay with the things that could affect me”he pointed. Muguruza will start her Australian tour at the Yarra Valley Classic tournament, held in Melbourne Park, against the winner of the first round match between Taiwanese Su-Wei Hsieh and Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck.
