Muguruza: “I feel better physically”

MADRID, 25 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza has assured that she feels “better physically” than at the beginning of the Australian Open, the first 'Grand Slam' of the season, something that has shown with her solid victory against the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (6-1, 6 -2), to which he has played an “intelligent” match.

“I definitely feel better physically. When I started the game against Shelby (Rogers), I didn't know how I was going to feel. I went to the track and didn't want to retire at all. I knew I wasn't going to feel good, but I knew I had some tennis. I feel that, well, I may not feel 100%, but you can always do something different, try to win the game, “he said in statements provided by his press department.

In this sense, the Hispanic-Venezuelan highlighted the rest between meetings. “Here every victory gives me another 48 hours to recover, so I really have it in mind. Yes, my voice has changed. I'm much better. Yes, I feel better than when I started,” he said.

“I've played a smart game from the first point. I really wanted to play against it, we always have good games; last year we played three times. I really wanted to play on the hard court. I think I had a good game plan. And everything worked pretty fast for my side, “he said of the duel against the Ukrainian.

However, he did not want to compare his current level with that exhibited in his final wins at Roland Garros 2016 and Wimbedon 2017. “I do not usually compare myself to the past, I do not even remember how my level was in Wimbledon. Many things have happened. I try never comparing myself when I get a good result or something like that because every year, every game, everything changes, I feel good out there, I think it was a good game from me, I just keep that, I don't want to think about how I played two years ago or none of that, “he stressed.

Finally, Muguruza, again with Conchita Martínez, explained that his goal this year is “to play as many games as possible.” “I played Shenzhen and in Hobart. I tried to play as many tournaments as I could. It is definitely a good sign for me when I don't feel well and win matches and compete. Even if you don't feel well, there is always a chance. You just have to find your way. I am satisfied with my fighting spirit and I know how to accept many difficult situations, “she concluded.
