The Fenerbahçe coach was sanctioned yesterday with four games and 40,000 euros after being accused of racist
MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The coach of Fenerbahçe, the Portuguese José Mourinho, filed a “moral damage” of 50,000 euros against Galatasaray on Friday, after being accused of racist and receiving this Thursday a hard sanction of the Turkish Federation.
The Portuguese coach was accused by the Galatasaray to make racist statements after the Istanbul derby on Monday. Although Fenerbahçe published a statement saying that his comments had been taken “completely out of context”, the coach did not fight a hard sanction and criticism.
“We would like to inform that there has been a demand for moral damages of 50,000 euros against Galatasaray by José Mourinho through the lawyers of the Fenerbahçe due to the attack on personal rights to our technical director José Mourinho,” says the official note.
Mourinho received on Thursday a hard reprimand of the Turkish Football Federation and a sanction of four games and 40,000 euros of a fine. The Setúbal coach pointed out after the match that the Galatasaray bench had put “jump as monkeys” after an early incident in the match and that the game had been better because it was not led by a Turkish referee.
The Turkish Federation was overwhelming in its sanction for what it described as “derogatory, offensive statements, contrary to the ethics of sport and that encourage violence.”
