The MotorLand Aragón circuit, in the Teruel town of Alcañiz, will be part of the calendar for the next season of the European Le Mans Series for the first time in history, the endurance championship where Le Mans Gran Turismo prototypes and cars compete. Mans in its three categories LMP2, LMP3 and LMGTE.
As indicated this Thursday from the Aragonese track, it will host a four-hour endurance night race on August 26 and 27, 2023, the only one of the year, which will be the fourth appointment of a campaign with six tests.
The ELMS season will start in Spain on April 23 at the Barcelona Circuit and then move on to Italy, where the second round will take place on May 7. After a break for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, he will return to France on July 16 for his third round and then to Alcañiz. From there, to Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) in September and close in Portugal on October 15.
The European Le Mans Series is the prelude for teams aspiring to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The drivers who race in LMP2 or LMGTE drive the same cars that are entered in the FIA WEC, so famous for its 24 Hours of Le Mans event.
