MADRID, 4 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The former soccer player and ambassador of the FC Futures project Fernando Morientes declared that the French forward Kylian Mbappé will be the one who has to “decide his future”, with Real Madrid as an option, although if he does not finally sign for the white club, “others like him will come or better”, at the same time that he confessed that, despite the fact that he is a “great player”, he does not like that “he is talked about so much”.
“I’m not going to find out anything about Mbappé, he’s a great player but he’s the one who has to decide his future. It seems that it could be this year, but it could be the next, but also last year they tried. If Mbappé doesn’t come others like him or better will come,” Morientes told the media on Tuesday after the presentation of FC Futures in Spain for the creation of soccer fields in neighborhoods.
The former Real Madrid footballer believes that for LaLiga it is always “good” to have the “best players”, but he does not like that the “soap opera” Mbappé “goes so long”. “The big clubs like Real Madrid, Barça, Atlético de Madrid, Valencia, they always generate that kind of debate about the great players,” he opined.
The former striker “would like” the number ‘9’ to go to Mbappé, but also to Harry Kane, or even Joselu. “There are players who are very capable of wearing that number for Real Madrid, it’s a huge responsibility, but I think that when you have the talent of a very good player that doesn’t matter,” he remarked. “Whoever takes it knows that he has to take on a huge challenge, a huge responsibility and score a lot of goals,” he added.
Morientes, as the new ambassador of the FC Futures project, described the project aimed at the new generations as “fantastic”. “The rehabilitation of sports spaces to be used by the kids who live nearby, so that they can experience that world of sports, the world of soccer, and instill in them the values that sport gives you,” he confessed.
“In Spain, the youth base and youth teams have always worked very well, not only first-rate clubs but also in football schools, I think that’s important in that. Children so young that they also master the ball are very striking. so young,” he concluded.
