More than 5,000 participants gather in A Coruña in the Central Lechera Asturiana Women’s Race

MADRID, 24 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Central Lechera Asturiana Women’s Race in A Coruña, the circuit’s sixth event of the year, brought together more than 5,000 women this Sunday through the streets of the center of the Galician city, a race in which Zelinda Spencer won.

The ‘Pink Tide’ colored the 6.5 kilometers of route with start and finish in the surroundings of Riazor. At the end of the race, a one-hour fitness and aerobics festival was held to complete a day of sports, solidarity and vindication of the role of women in the world of sports and in society. In addition, with the help of Banco Santander, the largest pink ribbon in history (a symbol of the fight against breast cancer) was displayed in the starting area.

On the other hand, Zelinda Spencer repeated her 2021 triumph in A Coruña (24:46), surpassing Irati Lorza, second classified, by more than 30 seconds, and Lara Solsona closed the podium. The ‘Top 5’ was completed by Vanessa Rama and Melanie Mariño, all under 26 minutes.

The test could also be run virtually, and Oysho maintains its free app to continue promoting women’s sports, with tips, challenges and training to practice running, yoga or Pilates.

At the end of the year, a final contribution from the circuit to the Spanish Association Against Cancer of 75,000 euros will be made. New this year, when registering you also have the option to directly donate the extra amount you want and will continue to financially support three foundations focused on protecting women in different areas: Wanawake Mujer, Fundación GEICAM and Clara Campoamor.

Furthermore, in A Coruña there was the possibility of acquiring up to 50 100% solidarity bibs in favor of the Association of Disabled Women of Galicia ACADAR, an entity that promotes, coordinates and defends the defense of the rights of women with disabilities.

The Z Zurich Foundation continues its cooperation for another year with the Central Lechera Asturiana Women’s Race with the help of Zurich Seguros, one of the sponsors of the circuit. In A Coruña, she contributed one euro for each woman who crossed the finish line to ACADAR.

In the case of this event, the participants were able to collaborate, within the +SOLIDARIAS campaign, with the REDMADRE Foundation to support pregnant women (redmadre.es). The Women’s Race also helps to make visible the fight against gender violence; All participants wore the same number, 016, the telephone number for victims of gender violence and which does not leave any trace on the telephone bill.

The Spanish Metastatic Breast Cancer Association is also present in the race. The #laMquefalta movement, launched by the Daiichi Sankyo-AstraZeneca Alliance and the Spanish Association of Metastatic Breast Cancer (ACMM), calls for action by citizens, companies and institutions to make the metastatic stage of breast cancer visible and raise awareness among society about this disease. The conversation about breast cancer is incomplete without talking about metastasis, and it is currently little known by the population. This movement aims to focus especially on the peculiarities, approach and needs of patients with metastatic breast cancer.
