BARCELONA, 2 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The MoraBanc Andorra hosts the Turkish Frutti Extra Bursaspor on Tuesday at the Poliesportiu d’Andorra in a unique EuroCup semifinal match in which the Principality team seek another continental joy in the form of a final and a fight for a prestigious title, the best way to forget your sorrows in the Endesa League.
The Andorrans are one game away from a final, from a possible title. A good performance in the EuroCup that does not go hand in hand with what has been done in the domestic competition, where they occupy the ‘red lantern’ of the table with only 9 victories so far this season. And winning the Eurocup gives a ticket to the next Euroleague.
They are two different realities for two opposite faces shown by the players of Óscar Quintana. But in the Andorran ‘multiverse’, when talking about the Eurocup it should be done positively. At the moment, they were fourth in Group A and defeated Buducnost in the round of 16 and Gran Canaria, first in Group B, in the quarterfinals.
Being in the first final of a Eurocup involves winning, at home, a rival who is also a bit ‘Cinderella’ and who few expected to see in these semifinals, being seventh in their group in the Regular Phase, classified with the most matches lost than won. Of course, they accounted for two historical ones like Partizán from Belgrade and Olimpia from Ljubljana in these qualifiers.
So in Andorra little can be trusted by an Ottoman group that has points in the hands of outsiders and playmakers Andrew Andrews (14.2 points on average) and Derek Needham (13.2). If the Andorrans continue to be strong on the rebound and improve in the losses section, they will start with part of the way done. And, above all, they expect the best version of Codi Miller-McIntyre, their top scorer (13.7) and assistant.
