Moffi, the executioner of PSG, became a forward for lazy

PSG lost the Ligue 1 lead at the weekend after falling in the last minute to Lorient, second to last in the French league. The scorer of the goal that sank the Parisian team was Terem Moffi, 21, a Pentecostal Christian (a belief that emphasizes the figure of the Holy Spirit) who grew up in Calabar, a city in southeastern Nigeria, in an upper-middle-class family, far removed from the stereotypes of the humble African player. “My father is a lawyer. My younger brother studies law, the eldest did medicine in Russia and my other brother specialized in public administration in Manchester, ”says the forward, who at just 16 years of age decided that he would not go to university, which was his family's plan for him, to focus on football.

It was difficult for him to reach the elite. Moffi left Nigeria for England to train at Buckswood Academy. Due to his physique, his coaches thought that he would perform as a defensive midfielder but according to the player himself “I was too lazy and came to the conclusion that my best position was that of forward”.

After 18 months of being in England, he was signed by Lithuanian Zalgiris. He did not adapt and went to Riteriai Vilnius, where he did stand out scoring 20 goals in 29 games. From there he signed for Belgian Kortijk, where he spent only eight days and scored two goals before Lorient bought him for 8.5 million euros., becoming the second most expensive signing in the team's history. This year he has six goals and is the great hope of the French team to stay in the First Division.
