Modric: “We deserved more, but 1-1 is a positive result”

MADRID, 9 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric assured that his team deserved “more” in the first leg of the 2022-2023 Champions League semifinals against Manchester City, although he reiterated that the draw (1-1) is a “positive” result. with which neither of the two teams “comes out reinforced”, so the tie is still “open”.

“The result is open, we played a good game. We knew they were going to have possession, but they didn’t create much, we had more chances, it’s a shame about the goal they scored against us. We’re going to give everything there,” the Croatian analyzed to the microphones of Movistar after the continental duel at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Modric highlighted the “patience” of his team, waiting for their “opportunity”. “They didn’t create much, we suffered, we endured and went to halftime with 1-0. After the goal we improved in pressure and with the ball. That goal is a shame, the referee didn’t whistle a corner, maybe a previous foul. .. But it’s open,” he added about the equalizer for the ‘citizens’.

“The coach told us that we had to have more ball and create more. We know that Camavinga is feeling good in the middle, it has worked out for us. We deserved more, but it is a positive result. We are going there with hope, confidence and faith that we can win”, he stressed about the return at the Etihad Stadium next Wednesday.

A duel that neither Real Madrid nor City will arrive “reinforced” after this “open result”, according to the Croatian. “We knew that the tie was not going to end here, it was difficult. The tie continues 50/50,” he concluded.
