Croatian midfielder Luka modric declared this Monday, after the defeat of his team against that of Spain (3-5) in the round of 16 of the Eurocup, that at the beginning of the extra time they had their rival “against the ropes”, but that they missed clear occasions that prevented them from winning.
“It was a difficult game, both physically and mentally. We took the lead with a lucky goal. Afterwards they were better, at least during the first 60 minutes. We were too involved in our field and we let them play,” explained the player of the Real Madrid to the HRT chain.
“When we left our field we played better and created more chances, and from there came the draw. We showed quality and character,” he said Modric.
“At the beginning of extra time we had them on the ropes, but we couldn't score with two clear chances. Then the game changed and we didn't have the strength to return” to the game, he said.
