Moat, Dark Horse and Aurelius, leaders of the Ibiza JoySail

MADRID, 28 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Moat (Performance), Dark Horse (Cruising) and Aurelius (World Cruising) are leaders of the Ibiza JoySail, after a new day in which light winds blew from the south, which allowed the superyachts to compete in a test, but not like this The J Class.

With the entire fleet already concentrated in Marina Ibiza, the superyachts competed in their first test in Ibiza waters, where the Moat in Performance, the Dark Horse in Performance Cruising and Aurelius in World Cruising are the first leaders.

The Class J, who did a test on Wednesday, this Thursday after several hours in the water they were finally unable to celebrate any. The meteorological forecasts of light southerly winds came true and the fleet had to travel to Es Vedrà, twelve miles from Marina Ibiza to be able to sail with the best wind.

The departure, located next to the islet of Es Vedrà, was carried out with a following wind, with a good part of the boats with code zero, with an intensity that barely exceeded 6-7 knots, and after circling half an islet they went to a buoy between Cala Vedella and Cala Molí.

The Moat (Swan 115), the big favorite in all the Performance pools, and the only boat to have won the first two editions of the Ibiza JoySail, soon took the lead and won. In Corinthian, the Spanish boat Kiboko (SW 105) is first and fourth overall and Aragón abandoned due to a breakage.

Furthermore, the Dark Horse (Swan80), another of the pioneers of the Ibiza JoySail, has pleasantly surprised this year for its competitiveness in the Performance Cruising category. The British boat was sailing in the front group until almost the end of the beat, where she was outclassed by Kiboko, a boat 25 feet larger. Second, the Prevail (Tripp 90) and third, Shambo (Y7 70).

Meanwhile, Aurelius (Dystra 111) also showed good feelings from the same start, and was leading the fleet for a good part of the first leg, with Alarife Cien (Custom 99), another of the Spanish boats in competition, in second.

As for the Class J, they had their regatta field north of Formentera, but the wind barely reached 5 knots, so they could not compete in any race. For Friday’s day, the two fleets will be unified, and the organization’s intention is to carry out a coastal tour where the J Classes on the one hand and the Superyachts on the other.
