Milos Raonic, the tennis gunner in the 2020 season

Milos Raonic has completed a remarkable 2020 season despite the atypical situation that has been experienced on the circuit because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Canadian tennis player has rediscovered his best tennis and, despite not winning any title, he has completed great performances in tournaments such as the Masters 1,000 of Cincinnati, where he fell in the final against Novak Djokovic, or the Masters 1,000 of Paris, where he lost in the semifinals against Daniil Medvedev, which has allowed him to return to the Top-20 of the ranking (currently occupies the 14th position with 2,580 points.

One of the keys to Milos Raonic's success has once again been his ability to serve, proving why he is one of the best punches on the ATP circuit. The Canadian finished the year with a total of 529 direct aces in the 32 games he has played in 2020, with an average of 16.53 aces per game.

Raonic leads the American in this peculiar classification John Isner, who hit 425 aces in 20 games with an average better than Raonic of 21.25 aces per game. Three aces from Isner he stayed Alexander Zverev, who added 422 direct aces although in 39 games, more than Raonic and Isner, something similar to what happens with Rublev, who achieved 411 direct aces in 51 games.

In this classification there are also prominent servers such as Reilly Opelka (374 aces in 19 games) and prominent names on the circuit like Daniil Medvedev, seventh in the standings with 355 aces in 38 games. Novak Djokovic appears outside the Top-10, who added 278 aces in 46 games.

Regarding the Spanish tennis players, in this classification stands out Feliciano López, who appears in seventeenth position with 241 aces achieved in 17 games with an average of 14.17 aces per game. 'Feli' leads in almost 100 direct aces to the two Spaniards who follow him in the standings, Pablo Carreño and Rafa Nadal, who have hit 157 aces in 32 and 34 games respectively.

The data of the direct aces also leave us the spectacular figures of Nick Kyrgios, who added 176 aces in just nine games, Roger Federer's 66 aces in his six games at the Australian Open and the curious figures from Quentin Halys and Christopher Eubanks. The Frenchman has achieved 47 aces in the two final phase matches of an ATP tournament he has played in 2020. Halys added 32 aces against Krajinovic in the Australian Open and 15 against Marcos Giron at Roland Garros, although despite this he ended up losing in both games. Something similar happened to Christopher Eubanks, who managed 22 aces in his match against Peter Gojowczyk at the Australian Open in his only ATP Tour final draw match in 2020.
