The former Atlético de Madrid player Milinko Pantic does not forget that he enjoyed “a lot” in the rojiblanco team, which gave him “everything” and of which he was a part in the “precious year of the historic double” with the achievement of the League and the Cup of the King of 1995-1996
“I have enjoyed a lot (at Atlético), it has given me everything and it is a shame that I was only there for three years, but I am very happy to be part of this great family,” Milinko Pantic told the club’s official media after visiting the space ‘Atleti Territory’.
The former midfielder remembers that “everyone” advised him not to sign for a team that had “many problems”. “I made the decision and I was right. I had a beautiful year, where everything went very well and we won the historic double with a great team, especially a humble one,” he stressed.
That team that dominated the 95-96 campaign was led by his compatriot Radomir Antic, who died in 2020 and whom he misses “much”. “He knew a lot about soccer and it was a privilege to be with him and talk about soccer,” he remarked.
Pantic also confesses how happy it makes him to see Margarita, the fan who became popular for depositing a bouquet of flowers at the corner kick since her arrival and up to the present day in memory of her figure, and “the privilege” she has of “feel the affection of the people” in Spain, despite not being his country of birth.
“Belonging to this club, being part of its history and telling my countrymen that I have played here, I think that more cannot be asked for in this life”, says the one who was one of the great architects of the rojiblanco double.
