Milan remain firm in the lead after beating Benevento with one less player

Milan remains firm in the lead and did not fail in their visit to Benevento. Despite playing with one less footballer for much of the game due to the expulsion of Tonali, the 'rossonero' team added another victory against an opponent who wasted a penalty that could have put Pioli's men in trouble.

In the end, goals from Kessié, a penalty, and Leao were worth it to link the third consecutive victory and maintain their unbeaten band (11 wins, 4 draws).

The Serie A leader found himself with a gift from Benevento in the form of a penalty. Tuia was too strong against Rebic and knocked down the Milan striker before touching the ball. Kessié's pulse did not tremble to transform the maximum penalty and put Pioli's team with an advantage.

The 'rossoneri' dominated for much of the first half, but the VAR intervened to warn the referee of a tough tackle by Tonali to an opponent, leaving Milan with one less for the young midfielder's direct red.

Pioli decided to 'sacrifice' Brahim Díaz to reinforce the core with the entry of Krunic.

Benevento saw an opportunity and turned on Donnarumma's goal, decisive to maintain the Milan advantage. Letizia launched a missile from the front, but the Italian goalkeeper showed reflexes by sticking out a hand to deflect the ball.

Inzaghi's men continued looking for a tie in the second half, however they granted another gift to Milan. Goalkeeper Monitpò measured badly on his way out and allowed Leao to score the second with quality.

To make matters worse, Benevento wasted minutes later a penalty that would have allowed them to close the gap, but Caprari shot straight out.

Milan also had chances to score, but Çalhanolu and Kessié crashed their shots against the post.
