Míchel: “We have taken a weight off our shoulders”

The Huesca coach, Miguel Angel Sánchez, ‘Míchel’, said his team lifted “a weight off” with their first win of the season, 1-0 at Alaves.

“I feel fully identified with the squad. Today we have lifted a weight from our shoulders, but it was not something personal, it was more for them than for me ”, highlighted the Madrid coach.

Míchel added that victory is “for everyone” and that the team is the same one that has done things well in other games but has not been able to win.

“Now I see the glass half full and little by little the team will be more competitive ”, assured the coach of the Huesca team.

Asked about the decision to have Javi Ontiveros, the author of the goal, as a starter, explained that he always says he has 26 players in the squad and that they make things difficult for him to make the lineup.

“Javi played a great game, but like the rest of the team. We have been generally at a very high level. We thought they were going to wait for us behind and we needed to open the field with two pure wingers, Ontiveros and Ferreiro, and stay with a player in the middle who reads the second plays very well, Okazaki, and we have decided on that ”, he analyzed.

Míchel said that in the general calculation Huesca was superior to his rival and that he had already deserved to win before this match. In this sense, he stressed that the best thing they had done was “have patience”, something that was difficult after twelve days without winning.

“Today the team has not been afraidHe has had patience and pause and that, in the circumstances in which we were, was difficult and it is to be applauded ”, he assured.

Míchel revealed that he did not know that Ontiveros' grandmother was in the hospital sick and noted that this “Carries the pain inside” but that in the field he had known how to abstract himself from everything and had starred in “a great match” with the icing on the cake, hopefully giving strength to his grandmother to recover as soon as possible.
