“Our goal is to keep a clean sheet”
BARCELONA, 7 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The coach of Girona, Miguel Ángel Sánchez Muñoz ‘Míchel’, recognized this Friday that they need “more than ever to recover their aggressiveness” against Atlético de Madrid, their next rival on Saturday in LaLiga Santander matchday eight.
“The other day against Real Sociedad I didn’t really like the aggressiveness without the ball. The team reached the rival goal many times, but we lacked aggressiveness. We are not this team. Tomorrow we need it more than ever and show our personality, which is very necessary in the Cívitas Metropolitano”, he explained in the press conference prior to the clash.
Míchel highlighted the staff of the colchoneros. “It’s a team made to win LaLiga. It will be a very difficult match for us, but we have enthusiasm, personality and the desire to show that we can put on a great match at the Metropolitano. Our responsibility is to give our best version, knowing that Atlético can win the game. Our goal is to keep a clean sheet”, he added.
“Eleven seasons ‘Cholo’ has been at Atlético and always in the ‘Champions’ and winning titles. It is possible that they change a player because on Wednesday they have an important duel in the Champions League, but Correa, Griezmann, Cunha, Morata, Joao Félix and Carrasco are top-level players. Any of them can win a game,” said Míchel, who could also make changes to his eleven.
“It’s an option. We have a very broad squad. I’m delighted with the resources I have, but it could be a possibility”, admitted the coach of the Catalan team, who will try to forget about his bad result in Montilivi, where he lost the last day 3 -5 against Real Sociedad.
In this line, Míchel described it as an “accident” due to the effectiveness of the visitors. “La Real kicked five times on goal and they scored all five, one hundred percent effective. We have to improve the pressure, be compact in defense and in duels be able to stop the rival. We were a contemplative team in defense the other day and It is not our way of acting,” he said.
Asked about Rodrigo Riquelme, on loan from Atlético and essential in the ‘gironins’ scheme, his coach stressed the importance of the match for the U21 international. “He is motivated and very involved. It is a special game for him. He knows that we need the best version of him to be able to play a great game,” he concluded.
