Gerardo Martino, selector of Mexico, trust that Raul Jimenez can play the Olympic Games if he recovers in time from the skull fracture he suffered in November.
The Aztec striker has not competed since last November when he suffered a skull fracture in a collision with David Luiz in a match between Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
These days, Jiménez has been with his teammates from the Mexican team, who are playing this Saturday in Cardiff against Wales, participating in training sessions, although avoiding contact exercises.
“Raúl is fine. He is training normally with us, except in contact exercises. When we do that, we let him train separately with a member of the coaching staff,” Martino said at a press conference.
“We have to see when his club will decide that he can play, when he finally receives the green light from the doctors. If he does not play again this season, that means that he has less chance of coming with us,” Martino said with his mind set. in the Olympic tournament that begins on July 21.
“If he can play, there are chances that he will be in the Gold Cup and in the Games, but of course, it all depends on what happens at Wolves in the next 50 days.”
