Messi received 462 points in the Ballon d’Or, compared to 357 from Haaland

MADRID, 4 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Argentine striker Leo Messi won his eighth Ballon d’Or, awarded by France Football magazine, thanks to the jury’s 462 points, compared to the 357 of the Norwegian Erling Haaland and the 270 of the Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, the newspaper revealed this Saturday French L’Equipe.

The current Inter Miami player, world champion with the Argentine national team, was chosen by 87 of the 92 journalists, 65 of whom voted him the best of the year. Curiously, the Cameroonian, Cape Verdean, Jordanian, Salvadoran and Swiss representatives did not vote for him.

The Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City midfielder, received 100 points, and Rodri Hernández, also a citizen player and the only Spaniard on the list, 57 to close the ‘Top 5’. Among the top ten, Real Madrid’s Brazilian Vinícius accumulated 49 points; the Argentine Julián Álvarez (Manchester City), 28; the Nigerian Victor Osimhen (Naples), 24; the Portuguese Bernardo Silva (Manchester City), 20; and Croatian Luka Modric (Real Madrid), 19.

The Spanish representative on the jury, the former director of AS Alfredo Relaño, voted in first place for Leo Messi, in second for Kylian Mbappé, in third for Erling Haaland, in fourth for Vinícius and in fifth for Rodri.

The Ballon d’Or jury is made up of 92 journalists from the top 100 countries in the FIFA ranking; France Football establishes the list of 30 nominees and each member of the jury must indicate, in order, their top five. The player in first position gets 6 points, the second 4, the third 3, the fourth two and the fifth one. The sum of these votes establishes the final classification of the men’s Ballon d’Or.
