The Argentine soccer player of Barcelona Lionel Messi surpassed the number of searches on Google worldwide to the coronavirus after knowing his intention to leave his club.
The revelation of the existence of a Messi burofax requesting his departure, this Tuesday, caused the searches on the player to skyrocket to the point of unseating the coronavirus at times.
On a scale of 0 to 100, a scale that Google Trends uses to measure the popularity of searches, Messi went from an 8 to an 86 in just two hours. The highest point occurred around 8:00 p.m., overtaking the coronavirus by two points.
Burkina Faso, Guinea, Guinea and Mali were the countries in which the queries about the Argentine shot the most, with figures of 89%, 88% and 87% respectively.
Concepts such as burofax, Bartomeu or Manchester City also grew exponentially in relation to the news. Also, in Spain searches on the president of Barcelona in the last 7 days have risen from 1% to 82% in popularity.
