Messi and Di María lead a new victory for Argentina against Venezuela

MADRID, 26 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

This morning, the Argentine national team signed its third consecutive win in the South American Qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, accumulating 30 games in a row undefeated, by beating Venezuela (3-0) in La Bombonera on the penultimate day with a win that closed Leo Messi.

The albiceleste, already qualified for the World Cup, had no mercy in Buenos Aires for the bottom team, already with the Argentine José Pekerman on the bench. With Messi as ‘9’, it was difficult for the Copa América champion to create goal situations, and she was overcome in the first half when she finally found the goal after a low cross from Atlético Rodrigo de Paul that Nico González finished off (min. 34) .

The course of the clash changed with the entrance of Ángel di María in the 70th minute; just nine minutes after entering the field of play, ‘el Fideo’ increased the count by hitting the ball against Faríñez and the defenders to make it 2-0.

Already in minute 82, the PSG player served ‘La Pulga’ so that he scored the third and definitive goal -number 81 with the albiceleste- with a faulty shot that fooled the ‘Vinotinto’ goalkeeper. With this, Argentina said goodbye to their fans before facing the last day in Ecuador.

Those of Lionel Scaloni are second in the table with 38 points, only behind the leader Brazil (42), while Venezuela closes the group with only 10 units after three wins, one draw and 13 losses.
