Mérida AD will play in Primera RFEF next playoff season after winning the final against Teruel, which ended 2-0 after extra time. During the previous phase of the championship, the semifinals, Mérida AD eliminated Cristo Atlético; the eleven from Teruel, meanwhile, managed to snatch the place from Cacereño.
During the first half neither team managed to score a goal, so the players left the field with the same initial 0-0.
Neither team managed to score in the second half, so the game ended with a score of 0-0.
The 0-0 with which the match ended was not enough to resolve the tie, so an extension was necessary. Fortunately, in the first period of extra time, luck came to the eleven from Mérida, who took advantage of the play to open the scoring with a goal from José Gaspar in the 94th minute, concluding the first half with the score of 1-0.
After the break, in the second period of extra time, luck came for the local team, which put more ground in between through a goal from Nacho in the 105th minute, ending the second half of extra time with the final result of 2-0.
In the chapter on changes, Juanma Barrero’s Mérida took over from Guille Perero, Mario, Héctor Camps, Merenciano and Pedro Lagoa for Goma, Aitor Pons, Felipe Alfonso, Higor and Lolo Plá, while Teruel coach Víctor Bravo, He ordered the entry of Hakim, Julen, Tatín, Kevin Lacruz, Conte and Comeras to replace Guille Andrés, Javier Hermelo, Alfredo, Borja Romero, David Aparicio and Emaná.
The referee showed a total of seven cards: three yellow cards to Mérida, specifically Goma, Emilio Cubo and José Artiles, and two to Teruel (Cabetas and David Aparicio). In addition, there were two red cards for Cabetas (2 yellow) and Javier from the visiting team.
Winning the champions final allows Mérida AD to close its time in the First RFEF with a flourish. Not only have they managed to get promoted, but this victory makes them absolute champions of the category, as well as accessing a direct place in the second round of the Copa del Rey next year. For its part, Teruel, simply remains as a recently promoted team, which is still another triumph for the club.
