Menorca will once again host the Copa del Rey and de la Reina beach volleyball

BARCELONA, 1 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

The Iberdrola Copa del Rey and Reina Iberdrola Beach Volleyball Cups will return for the second consecutive year to the Balearic island of Cala en Bosc, in Menorca, to dispute the first title of the season from April 29 to May 1.

The competition will bring together the best national and international beach volleyball players, who will put all their arguments on the sand to start the season on the right foot, and will begin with the dispute of the first matches of the group stage, reported the Royal Spanish Federation Volleyball this Friday.

The couples will look for their place in the tournament in these first rounds, with the aim of qualifying for the quarterfinals. The winners will advance to the semifinals, scheduled for Sunday morning, and the grand finals of the Copa del Rey and the Copa de la Reina Iberdrola will be played at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the same Sunday, May 1.

Cala en Bosc will present a “flirtatious assembly”, with more than 500 stands, in which fans will be able to enjoy the “best sports show of the moment”, in addition to vibrating with music and the show that always accompanies volleyball tournaments beach, full of activities for all ages.

Nathan Matos-Timothee Platre, in the men’s box, and Daniela Álvarez-Tania Moreno, in the women’s, will defend the title in Menorca. These two couples are the current champions of the Copa del Rey and de la Reina. Matos and Platre prevailed in the 2021 grand final against Raúl Mesa and Óscar Jiménez (21-19 and 21-19), while Álvarez and Moreno defeated Nazaret Florián and Nuria Bouza, two national beach volleyball players, who did not They were able to overshadow Moreno and Álvarez.

Both players and fans who travel to Menorca will be able to enjoy the tourist attractions of the Balearic island, which has already become a “reference” in national beach volleyball, according to the federation.

One more year, the Copa del Rey and de la Reina will contribute to the development of the environmental program ‘Olas Vivas’, which will try to make the population aware of the importance of taking maximum care of the beaches.

Also, as happened in 2021, the event will have a light recycling space thanks to Ambilamp, a non-profit entity that will bring its values ​​to Menorca regarding the social importance of this type of recycling.

Regarding the women’s tournament, the federation highlighted the commitment to “reduce the gender gap in sport” and achieve equality for women through excellence. “The path to federated sports and high-performance sports is also possible for girls,” they added, referring to the practice of physical activity and sports at all levels of the educational system.
