Mendilibar, on the market: “Anything can happen”

MADRID, 1 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Sevilla coach, José Luis Mendilibar, acknowledged that “anything can happen” in the last hours of the market, at the same time that he criticized the “disarray” that means that the transfer window ends after the start of the League.

“Anything can happen, nothing has been done. We are going to wait for tonight, starting tomorrow we will see who we have and who can arrive. There is no movement anyway, we will see what happens. It is better to talk when it is already designed the squad. For the competitions we have, we need one more striker, I think and I hope the club works on it”, he analyzed the possibilities of the end of the market for Sevilla.

The coach was ironic, to ensure that “the good thing is that all the teams” are “on an equal footing” with respect to the market. “Nobody wants to fix it, if we start on the 11th, the market should be closed on the 10th. Let it continue like this, we’ll throw the dice up and whoever comes out, if you have it, you put it. I prepare a game without knowing if there will be a player, It’s a mess, it’s football today,” he lamented.

Regarding Atlético de Madrid, his next rival, the man from Zaldibar told the media in the preview that it is “a very good team, in shape, with good footballers”. “But we know that we can oppose them, I am convinced that we are going to have a very good game. I only ask that we go to the Metropolitan in the best conditions,” he analyzed.

Mendilibar hopes that against the rojiblancos he can turn around a bad start in the League, with three defeats in the first three games. “The data is there, but it’s not the biggest concern for the team. It’s the same to start thinking about it. But the concern is normal, it’s not exaggerated,” he said.

Finally, the coach valued his group in the Champions League, made up of Arsenal, PSV and Lens. “It’s a tough group, they’re all strong. But for everyone it’s a strong group, I don’t know if we’re favorites or if Arsenal is, we’ll be in the fight to qualify,” he concluded.
