Espanyol midfielder Óscar Melendo does not hide his happiness after having sealed the mathematical promotion to LaLiga Santander, but explained after training this Thursday that the group wants to finish leader.
The blue and white footballer stressed that the dressing room does not plan to lower their arms. “This Monday (against Tenerife at the RCDE Stadium) we want the championship, it is our second goal to meet. We all want the game to come to score three points ”, he commented.
Melendo recalled that the Catalan team is especially strong in their stadium and is confident of defeating the Canarian team: “At home we have achieved a very good solidity and hopefully we can get our best version against Tenerife.”
The youth squad, in this sense, pointed out that Espanyol will avoid any speculation in the next league match. “Throughout the course you are seeing a team that goes for the games from the first minute. We want to score as soon as possible ”, he confessed.
On a personal level, Melendo was satisfied with his weight on the block. “Sometimes you go through good and bad streaks and stages in which you play less, but I have always tried to do it or better possible and go to the top. I want to celebrate the title for the fans, because they deserve it a lot ”, he summarized.
