Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, united in pain and discomfort before the coffin of Elizabeth II

Broken in pain. This is how Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have been shown this Wednesday in Westminster Abbey, where the coffin of Elizabeth II is already located. The two duchesses have accompanied Prince William and Prince Harry in this painful moment of their lives.

The monarch’s wake, at London’s Westminster Hall, will last until Monday 19, when the state funeral will be held. The coffin of Elizabeth II has been transferred this Wednesday 14 to the emblematic seat of Parliament from Buckingham Palace. The funeral procession was headed by Carlos III.

Despite their differences, in delicate moments like this the brothers and sisters-in-law try to put aside their quarrels. In the solemn ceremony this Tuesday, as required by protocol, the new Dukes of Cornwall have gone one step ahead of the Sussexes. The image of the four mourning Elizabeth II is already part of the history of the British crown. The one of Kate and Meghan, sitting one behind the other in the Abbey, with a face of immense sadness, too.

The two duchesses have been in rigorous mourning and have worn a grid headdress, typical of this type of act. Guillermo, for his part, the military suit. Harry in civilian clothes, because he has the honors withdrawn after ‘Megxit’.

Harry and Meghan were surprised by the death of Elizabeth II last Thursday in the United Kingdom, as they coincidentally returned from the United States for a few days for a mini tour of Europe. Kate and Guillermo, for their part, had already moved to Adelaide Cottage, the official residence located in the fortress of Windsor.

Elizabeth II passed away last Thursday, September 8, at her residence in Balmoral (Scotland). Since then, the United Kingdom pays different tributes to its longest-serving sovereign and receives the new king, Carlos III. Also to the queen consort, Camilla Parker-Bowles. The monarch’s funeral will be held on Monday the 19th at Westminster Abbey. Her remains will rest in the Chapel of St. George, in Windsor, where those of her husband, Philip of Edinburgh, also rest; her father, King George VI; and the ashes of her sister, Princess Margaret.
