Medvedev leads European Laver Cup team

The Laver Cup already has the European representatives who will try to take over this edition and thus prolong the hegemony of the old continent. Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, Matteo Berrettini and Casper Ruud they will be the tennis players who will challenge their fellow professionals from the rest of the world.

The great absences will be the one of the greatest promoter of the competition itself, Roger Federer, for his knee operation and that of number six in the ATP ranking, Dominic Thiem, for his problems with his right wrist. “I am really disappointed to miss the Laver Cup this year. However, the Europe team has an incredible line-up and I wish them all the best on their fourth Laver Cup victory, “says the Swiss tennis player.

The captain of the European team, Björn Borg, trust your team in what you consider “The most important week of the year”. The former Swedish tennis player, winner of 96 tournaments throughout his career, knows the difficulty of maintaining the hegemonic winning streak as well as the pressure to defend the title.

The rest of the world team, captained by John McEnroe, already has three chosen to win the tournament: Argentine Diego Schwartzman and Canadians Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime. The remaining three players will be announced this week.
