Russian Daniil Medvedev, first seed, benefited by the abandonment of Australian Matthew Ebden, and the French Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who beat his compatriot Ugo Humbert, will contest the final of the Marseille tournament.
Medvedev is aiming for his first success in Marseille after Ebden, with a sore right thigh, decided to leave as the Russian led 6-4 3-0 with 58 minutes left.
Daniil Medvedev, who has not lost any sets in the competition, thus extends his best start to the season. After proclaiming himself champion of the ATP Cup with Russia and playing the final of the Australian Open, he is looking for his first ATP title of 2021 and the tenth of his career.
His rival in Marseille will be French Perre Hughes Herbert who beat Ugo Humbert 6-3 and 6-2 in one hour and five minutes. It will be the fourth final for the 93rd player in the ATP rankings after Montpellier in 2019, Shenzhen in 2018 and Winston Salem in 2015, all without success.
