Mbappé’s lawyer: “He wants to intervene in what he generates”

Delphine Verheyden, Kylian Mbappé’s lawyer, has granted an interview to The Team in which he has given explanations regarding the absence of the striker in the last act of the French team with various marketing brands. The specialist in law has acknowledged that the PSG player still wants to intervene in everything he generates and will continue to do so from next season.

“When a player is selected for the French national team for the first time, one of the first things he does is sign a document that is given to him and that governs his rights and obligations in the French team. This document becomes effective at the time of its signature and expires five years after the end of your professional career. That is the first thing that costs us. Therefore, for Kylian, it should be from his 18th birthday to his 40th birthday or so. It is not realistic to take on such a long commitment.”Verheyden acknowledged regarding the absence of his client in the marketing events of the French team.

He also had words for the sale of national team shirts, in which the lawyer considered that Mbappé has to intervene in everything he generates: “In the official shirts, who has the right? The FFF, the team supplier (Nike) and the player. If we put the player’s name on the jersey, he should receive some compensation. Next, each of them must decide if he wants to keep the money or donate it to amateur football. This is where Kylian wants to intervene in what he generates.”

Verheyden also assured that the players should have room for maneuver when giving interviews: “The agreement signed with the Federation now requires that the players answer any question from any media outlet. But aside from talking about a match that just ended, players should be able to choose when and where they want to talk. We just have to reconnect this convention with today’s world.”
