Maxi points to Anoeta and forces Bordalás to decide

After several weeks of progressive reintegration into the group, the Uruguayan forward Maxi Gomez completed this Monday the first weekly training of the Valencia and, unless a relapse, will be available for the meeting in Anoeta, which puts Jose Bordalás in the position of having to make an important decision at the tip of the attack.

On the other hand, neither Gabriel Paulista, nor Toni Lato nor Thierry Correia rejoined the group after the three days off that the squad has had for the League break, which leaves the coach with few options to vary his defense.

Maxi fell off the Valencia squad at the last minute to visit Betis on October 26. A few days later it was confirmed that he suffered a small muscle injury in his right leg that predicted two or three weeks of absence, which is the period that is fulfilled this Tuesday.

When the Uruguayan was injured he was essential for Bordalás but doubts about his performance grew in the environment after having scored only one goal in 744 minutes. The coach had to defend the striker on several occasions in the press room and although he praised his ability to work but admitted that his desire to collaborate made him move from the area where the goals are executed and that this made him less effective.

Four options on the table

His absence has allowed the Alicante coach to try three other options for the attack point, from the most anticipated, that of the Brazilian Marcos André (who passed without pain or glory), to the most transgressive (that of Gonçalo Guedes of false ‘nine) , going through the most effective (Hugo Duro, who recovered a point for the team with his double in the add-on against Atlético).

With those four options on the table, Bordalás will have to choose one of them against an opponent whose many virtues include defensive solidity, especially at Anoeta, where he has only conceded one goal in seven league games.
