Mattia Binotto resigns as Ferrari team boss

MADRID, 29 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian Mattia Binotto has resigned on Tuesday as Ferrari team manager, a “wise step” despite the fact that it is a “hard moment”, as confirmed by the team itself in a statement.

“Ferrari announces that it has accepted the resignation of Mattia Binotto, who will step down as team boss of the ‘Scuderia’ Ferrari on December 31,” the team announced.

In the published statement, the CEO of Ferrari, Benedetto Vigna, thanked Binotto “for his many excellent contributions during the 28 years” that he has been in the structure, as well as for “taking the team to a position of competitiveness during the past year “. “We are in a strong position to renew our challenge, above all by our incredible fans, to win the title. All of us here at the ‘Scuderia’ and in the Ferrari community wish Mattia the best for the future,” he said.

For his part, Binotto himself, in statements included in the statement, acknowledged his “regret” when making this decision. “I am leaving a company that I love, of which I have been a part for 28 years, with the serenity that comes from the conviction that I have made every effort to achieve the objectives set,” he recounted.

“I am leaving a united and growing team. A strong team, ready, I am sure, to achieve the highest goals, to whom I wish all the best for the future. I think it is right to take this step at this time as hard as it has been. “This decision is for me. I want to thank all the people who have shared this path with me, full of difficulties but also of great satisfaction,” he added in his message.

As the team commented, the process to find the new head of the Ferrari team “is underway” and is expected to end with the entry of 2023. Days ago, the Italian team denied rumors about a future departure of Binotto, describing as “unfounded” the information that spoke of a replacement, with the Frenchman Frederic Vasseur, Alfa Romeo’s ‘main team’, as a great candidate.
