Former Bayern Munich footballer Lothar Matthaus predicted this Wednesday the end of the Bavarian team’s dominance in the Bundesliga in the next few years, due to “planning errors” and because the club “has been late in the negotiations” for the renewal of key players.
“I think that Bayern’s dominance will decrease because mistakes have been made in planning and they haven’t worked as far-sightedly as in previous years.”explained Matthaus, after Bayern’s tenth consecutive league title, in the newspaper sports picture.
The world champion with Germany in 1990 pointed out that the Bavarian club “comes too late to negotiations too often”giving as an example the renewal of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
“Of course Bayern can continue to sign players. The question is: do they have the quality of Bayern on and off the pitch, the DNA that this club needs?” Thus, Matthaus ruled that in the next five years, the Bavarian team “will not be champion five times, but only three”.
