MADRID, 5 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish rider Jaume Masià (Honda) achieved this Saturday the ‘pole position’ in the Moto3 category during the British Grand Prix, the ninth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, while his compatriot and leader of the general classification, Daniel Holgado ( KTM), fell a few minutes before the end of the qualifying day.
Thanks to his best time of 2:25.072, Masià obtained the privileged position on the wet Silverstone Circuit. He benefited from an accident by the Japanese Taiyo Furusato (Honda), in turn 18, during the last minutes of the final Q2; that caused the cancellation of a couple of laps better than the ‘pole’, but done under a yellow flag.
Daniel Holgado, from Alicante, had taken center stage and was heading straight for pole position, but a fall with 2:24 left to finish that Q2 thwarted his purpose. He finally took third place, with a time 0.535 slower than Masià and a position just behind the British Scott Ogden (Honda).
In the previous Q1, also conditioned by the wet asphalt due to the rain, the Spanish Xavier Artigas (CFMoto) had passed the sieve together with the aforementioned Taiyo Furusato, together with the Australian Joel Kelso (CFMoto) and also with the Italian Filippo Farioli ( KTM).
