Marta García, Marta Serrano, Fernando Carro and Alejandro Quijada, complaints from TotalEnergies Milla in Madrid

The race in the capital of Spain is scheduled for September 24

MADRID, 6 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The organizing committee of the TotalEnergies Milla de Madrid presented this Wednesday its third edition at Rafaelhoteles Atocha, through an act that served as a tribute to Alejandro Quijada, European sub-23 champion of 3,000 meters obstacles, and Antonio Serrano, coach of many great figures of Spanish athletics for more than 30 years.

The race, which will be held on September 24, confirmed the first elite athletes: Marta García (winner of the last edition), Marta Serrano, Lorea Ibarzabal, Lorena Martín, Daniela García, Zoya Naumov, Angharad Davies, Fernando Carro , Pablo Sánchez-Valladares, Alejandro Quijada and Gonzalo Parra.

This TotalEnergies Milla de Madrid 2023, belonging to the NB Milla Urbana international circuit, will want to be “the fastest road race of the year in the capital”. This was indicated in a press release, after the aforementioned presentation event. Along with their races in the elite category, children between the ages of 0 and 11 will cover distances between 100 and 800 meters.

“Athletes between the ages of 12 and 100 (or more) will complete the legendary 1,609 meters. Finally, runners with disabilities will have a free inclusive run of about 400 meters, with which the organization intends to give visibility to many people who for much of society are virtually invisible,” the note said.

Among all the participants, two lots of three hotel nights in New York plus a number to run, in 2024, the Fifth Avenue Mile will be raffled. In the same way, this TotalEnergies Milla in Madrid will continue with its charitable nature. “One euro from each registration for the races for adults and children over 11 years of age will go to the NGO Doctors Without Borders,” said the press release.

“Another of the great bets of the TotalEnergies Milla de Madrid is for children’s races, with the intention of doing a bit to lower child obesity rates and achieve a society with healthier and more active children”, continued the note.

“Children’s races cost one euro, which will be donated entirely to El Poder del Chándal, a non-profit association whose objectives include promoting sport among the chronically ill, transplanted and disabled, as well as promoting organ donations, marrow, blood and tissues,” the note concluded.
