Marta Fernández breaks the world record of 50 butterfly S3

MADRID, 26 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish swimmer Marta Fernández managed to break the world record of the 50-meter butterfly of the S3 class during the celebration in Madrid of the Spanish Swimming Championship for Autonomous Teams, as reported this Sunday by the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Cerebral Palsy and Acquired Brain Injury.

The woman from Burgos, triple medalist in the last Paralympic Games in Tokyo, set a new time of 46.57 seconds, lowering the previous mark held by the Mexican Patricia Valle by almost ten seconds.

Marta Fernández also holds the world record in the 50 butterfly S4 with 40.22, although she has recently had to drop class to S3 due to her degenerative disease. “I am very happy with the results of the championship, it was the first after the change of category and it has been a great start with the world record in 50 butterfly. Now it is time to continue training and working for the World Cup,” he commented in statements collected by the FEDPC website.
