Athletes María Pérez and Jordan Díaz will be the flag bearers of the Spanish delegation this Sunday at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) confirmed this Saturday.
The Granada native, Olympic champion alongside Álvaro Martín in the mixed relay race in the women’s 20-kilometre walk and silver medallist in the individual women’s 20-kilometre walk event, and the triple jumper of Cuban origin, who won the gold medal in the triple jump final on Friday, will carry the Spanish flag at the ceremony, which will take place from 9:00 p.m.
In this way, both will take over from karateka Sandra Sánchez, flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Games. Canoeist Marcus Cooper, bronze in K4 500 this week, and sailor Támara Echegoyen, did so at the opening ceremony of Paris 2024.
