The co-director of the Legal Department of the Association of Spanish Soccer Players (AFE), María José López, will be one of the members of the Chamber of Agents of the FIFA Soccer Tribunal, a body created before the entry into force of the new ‘Regulation on Soccer Agents’ (RFAF), reported the entity.
López’s new position will be in operation on October 1, after the decision made by the FIFA Council. She was proposed by the International Federation of International Football Players Associations (FIFPRO), being the only Spanish member of this body.
The chamber will be made up of 20 members, comprising a president, a vice-president and those appointed at the proposal of the different member federations, the confederations, the footballers, the leagues, the clubs and the agents themselves.
As reported by AFE, among its main functions is to ensure a fair and impartial resolution of all disputes related to representation services for all parties involved in the transfer system.
Above all, after the approval of the new ‘Regulation on Soccer Agents’ (RFAF), which comes into force as of October 1, 2023, and according to which only those professionals who have the corresponding license.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has already given its legal support and validated the new regulations, confirming “the full legality, validity and proportionality” of the new regulations. “It constitutes a key step in the reform of the transfer system undertaken by FIFA, included in the strategic objective of modernizing the regulatory framework of football,” the court said.
