Marcus Thuram, Jadon Sancho and Achraf ask for justice for George Floyd

The world of sports is far from being oblivious to the request for justice for George Floyd, the 46-year-old African American man who died last Monday at the hands of a policeman in the state of Minnesota (United States). The football players Marcus Thuram (Borussia Moenchengladbach), Jadon Sancho and Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund) joined the cause this Sunday by starring in two gestures in this regard during the celebrations of the goals they scored in matches corresponding to the Bundesliga.

In the case of Marcus Thuram, son of the legendary Lilian Thuram, very involved in the fight against racism, made it 2-0 of the match played in the Borussia Park, and after dialing, he knelt down and bowed his head. With this he emulated the gesture that in his day popularized Colin Kaepernick, a player in the San Francisco 49ers football and part of the activist movement known as ‘Black Lives Matter ’ (Black lives matter).

As to Jadon Sancho and Achraf Hakimi, which marked on the visit of the Dortmund to the field of PaderbornThey both showed an undershirt in which “Justice for George Floyd” could be read. In the case of the Moroccan, he also made a gesture simulating handcuffs.

Both gestures are added to others like the one played by the Schalke 04 Weston McKennie wearing a bracelet asking for justice for George Floyd or the tweet written by Kylian Mbappé himself asking for this.
