Marc Márquez will not race in Assen: “I woke up in a lot of pain”

The Spanish rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) will not participate in the MotoGP race this Sunday at the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, the eighth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, after suffering injuries suffered last week in Germany, which also they prevented him from racing that Sunday at the Sachsenring.

“Marc Márquez will not take part in today’s race in Assen after being declared unfit as a result of the injuries suffered at the German Grand Prix last week, which have worsened even more during this Grand Prix,” confirmed Repsol Honda. .

Subsequently, the Cervera driver revealed the pain he has suffered since last week and which worsened this morning. “As you know, I have not reached Assen one hundred percent physically. In addition to the sprain and fracture of the finger, this week in Madrid they saw that there was a fractured rib that has been causing me a lot of pain,” he said on his Twitter account. .

“This morning I woke up in a lot of pain and, after a review with the medical team, we have decided not to run today to prevent it from getting worse and thus be able to recover for the following weeks. Thank you all very much for your support!”, he continued.

Márquez again had a bad weekend at Assen, where he crashed during free practice on Friday and during Q1, his 14th crash this year. Last week, at the German Grand Prix, the Catalan lived a Grand Prix to forget where he finished up to five times in the gravel: one on Friday, two in Q1, one in Q2 and another in the ‘warm up’ .
