Marc Márquez: “The weather can be changeable in Montmeló, so that can help us”

Pol Espargaró: “The bike has improved a lot”

MADRID, 30 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) indicated this Wednesday that “the weather can be changeable” during the Catalonia Grand Prix, the eleventh round of the Motorcycle World Championship, and that this “can help” his performance on the asphalt of the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya.

“This year it is difficult, but we are improving. We will try to make the spectators enjoy as always; also, it seems that the weather can be changeable, so that can help us,” said Márquez from the Born Center for Culture and Memory, along with other Catalan MotoGP riders, during the presentation of this Grand Prix.

“In good times it’s easy to have support; but now, when not everything is going so well, that’s when you value the warmth of the fans the most. I’ll have it thanks to Marc Márquez from the stands,” concluded the Repsol Honda team player, alluding to the area of the Montmeló layout that bears his name.

POL ESPARGARÓ: “THE BIKE HAS IMPROVED A LOT”

On the other hand, Pol Espargaró (KTM) admitted that he “is proud to be competing with the best riders in the world”. “After quite a long sabbatical due to my injury, I return to the Circuit, a place where they have been very attentive to my recovery, and I thank them,” he said.

“They have been part of my preseason and have helped me a lot. In addition, in the time that I have been away, the bike has improved a lot thanks to the great commitment of GasGas”, added Pol Espargaró in the presence of his brother Aleix (Aprilia). .

Aleix himself highlighted “the great work they are doing” at Aprilia, since they are “very competitive”. “The idea is to be on the podium at the end of the year; the new MotoGP format distributes many more points, so everything will be much more open until the end,” he said.

In addition, the eldest of the Espargarós recalled the last edition of the Catalan GP, where he lost the podium by ending the race one lap before. “This year, I have a message in English on my helmet that says one more lap, and I didn’t put the new Circuit marker because it didn’t fit in the design,” he joked about the matter.

ALBERT ARENAS: ” THERE WOULD BE NO BETTER WAY TO CELEBRATE THE HOME GP THAN WITH A PODIUM”

Meanwhile, Albert Arenas (Kalex) acknowledged that “Moto2 is a very difficult category and we have to balance everything because the bike is really good and we have potential”. “There would be no better way to celebrate the home GP than with a podium,” he added.

Finally, Xavier Artigas (CFMoto) declared that “although the beginning of the season went well, we have not been able to maintain that pace”. “We have to see what makes us weaker and improve. It is a circuit in which I have always found myself comfortable,” he said.
