Marc Márquez: “It’s been a long journey and we’ve reached the next stage”

MADRID, 16 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) has highlighted the “fantastic feeling” of returning to the podium, number 100 of his MotoGP career, during the Australian Grand Prix, in which he was second, and has assured that he has experienced ” a long journey” in recovering from his injury but has already reached “the next stage”.

“Today has been a great race; I have really enjoyed the battle and the feeling of getting back on the podium is fantastic. It has been a long journey and we have reached the next stage,” he told his team. “It’s fantastic to achieve this milestone of 100 podiums in the premier class and an honor to tie with Ángel Nieto, but we’re not done yet!” he added.

The man from Cervera also acknowledged his good feelings during the race at Phillip Island. “The soft rear tire was definitely the right choice for us in the race, I felt quite good and I was able to fight until the end. At the beginning I managed the situation a bit, but I really enjoyed the race, I tried win!” he said.

“Alex Rins has done very well in the last laps. Today I gave everything on the track and I really enjoyed overtaking, especially in turn 2 because the bike was working very well there. We are improving, but there is still work to be done. do,” he finished.

For his part, Pol Espargaró, who finished eleventh, explained that his race this Sunday was “quite similar to the last ones”. “We’ve been playing catch-up during it. We’ve probably been a little bit closer to the front in this race than the previous ones, but the pace overall has been slower than we thought,” he noted.

“Again, starting so far back on the grid makes it very difficult, and especially at a circuit like Phillip Island, there is a lot of turbulence and in the first laps you have to be very precise. We started the weekend well here, so So we can see there is some potential, but losing Q2 hurt us a lot. There are two races left this season, we’re moving on.”
