Marc Márquez: “It has been good to understand the bike and how to ride well on this track”

Pol Espargaró: “I didn’t feel comfortable and we have to find more grip”

MADRID, 16 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The MotoGP rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) was “very happy” this Friday to get back on a motorcycle in a Grand Prix, in free practice for the Aragon GP in which the sensations “have improved a lot” during the day, understanding, in general, “the bike and how to ride” on the Spanish track.

“I am very happy to get back on the bike and ride again in MotoGP. The sensations from morning to afternoon have improved a lot. In the morning I was not riding well and I was quite stiff on the bike. Then in the afternoon , I’ve been more relaxed, I haven’t gotten so tired and we’ve been able to work better,” Márquez said in statements to his team’s media collected by Europa Press.

The one from Cervera returned to compete after 110 days away from the tracks due to a new injury to the humerus of his right arm, which forced him to undergo surgery for the fourth time in two years. However, this Friday he understood “the bike and how to ride well” at MotorLand. “In my last run, with the soft tyre, I was doing a good lap but I had a little scare in the last corner,” he analyzed.

“If you make mistakes, it means you are pushing, which is good. There are some things to work on, but we are on the right track,” concluded the eight-time world champion, who was the best Honda of the day and eighth of the time combination.

For his part, his teammate Pol Espargaró lamented that this Friday was not “a good day” in terms of results. “In my last attack on the time I made a couple of mistakes and I couldn’t improve my time on the soft tyre. I think we could be in the top 15 if we did a lap together, but I didn’t feel comfortable and we have to find more grip. Let’s hope that tomorrow the grip on the track will improve and that we can also increase it on our part. The plan is to go out and ride tomorrow and do the best we can,” he explained.
