Marc Márquez: “I’m reaching the limit, I’m not ready to push”

“If I’m here injured it’s because of my maximum commitment to Honda”

MADRID, 22 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

MotoGP rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) assured that he is reaching “the limit” at the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen after his multiple injuries from the five falls in the last round in Germany, and commented that he does not feel prepared for ” squeeze” and that he will work to gain information for the future, thinking about the 2024 World Cup.

“I’m reaching the limit. I say I’ll take a step back because if you’re not physically prepared, you can’t find the last three or four tenths or push. We’ll see, maybe I’ll be very fluid and faster. But this weekend week I don’t feel prepared to push. I will continue working to improve for the future”, he appealed at a press conference.

“At Mugello and Germany I said that at the level of physical condition I was at my best. I could ride above my level. But after five crashes last weekend I’m not ready to give the top. I focus on continuing to ride for gather information,” he added.

Despite seeing himself at the limit in terms of physical level, he assured that he has done a “good job” the last three days. “The ankle was one of the main problems before arriving here, because the inflammation was excessive but they have done a great job and I think it won’t be a big problem. I have a fracture in my big toe, luckily only in the last part, It won’t be a problem. And the second rib, fractured, will be a problem because when I breathe, I feel it. But we’ll see, we’ll do FP1 and step by step,” he said.

All this is the result of a “very hard” past weekend due to the feeling of pushing, or not, and falling. “I accepted to fall in the ‘qualy’, you understand why you fall. Before the ‘warm up’ I thought about cutting, in the sprint race I was slower, I did not push beyond my feelings. In the ‘warm up’ I had a fall without going pushing and it is what results more difficult”, recognized.

However, he reiterated that his commitment to Honda is “maximum”. “I haven’t read much, I’ve focused on myself and I had a lot of work to do with physios and doctors. If I’m here with all the injuries it’s because my commitment to Honda is maximum and I want to continue working with this project for the future. My commitment is one hundred percent, I am here to improve and gather information for the future,” he said.
