MADRID, 23 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) stated this Friday that he had spent “most of the day riding calmly” during free practice for the Dutch Grand Prix, the eighth round of the MotoGP World Championship, despite starring in a new crash on the circuit of Assen.
“Today I had a limitation in the physical aspect with the rib that I cracked in Germany, especially in the last sector and in the change of direction. This has not helped us in our performance,” Márquez declared, to the official media of the Repsol Honda team, after achieving the nineteenth best combined time.
“I spent most of the day driving calmly and then I pushed right at the end to try to improve our position and see if Q2 was possible, but I crashed. Tomorrow I’ll try to push in Q1 and see if we can do something”, the pilot Cervera finally explained.
Iker Lecuona, who is replacing the injured Joan Mir at this event, admitted that he was “very happy” with how the practice day had gone, being able to “finish less than a second behind the first Honda and not far from the pilot fastest overall.”
“We have been able to continue what we did in Jerez and we have already taken another step here on the first day. Of course I would like to be even faster, but it is important to keep calm and work well with the team; they know the bike better I am listening to them a lot. Now it’s time to check the data and make a plan together,” Lecuona said ahead of this Saturday in Assen.
