Complete the test in Portimao after the diplopia and face the start of the World Cup with optimism
MADRID, 17 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish MotoGP rider Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) assured after completing a private test in Portimao, in recovery from the diplopia he suffered in a motocross accident at the end of the last World Championship, that he felt “relief” for not having discomfort and that faces the final part of this preseason with work and enthusiasm.
“I feel very happy, first to get back on a bike on the track and also because we have been able to confirm the sensations I had doing motocross. It is a great feeling, a feeling of relief because when I have ridden I have not had any discomfort with the vision”, he celebrated, in statements provided by the team.
For the first time since winning the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on October 24, 2021, Marc Márquez returned to a speed circuit to continue evaluating the development and improvement of his diplopia. Completing a total of 65 laps over the course of the day, Márquez and his team were able to further assess his current condition and start preparing for the 2022 MotoGP World Championship.
“As it’s been a long time since I’ve been on a bike, I’ve noticed that I’m lacking a bit in some physical aspects, but this is because I haven’t been able to have a regular pre-season. There is room to improve, but the positive and the fundamental of this test has been to reconfirm the feeling we had when we got on the motocross bike for the first time and enjoy the feeling of speed”, said the man from Cervera.
In addition, he completed an “intense” day with a lot of mileage. “It has been an intense day of testing with long runs, so I am very happy with the result. We have two weeks left before the tests start in Sepang, so I will take the opportunity to intensify my physical preparation and train on the bike,” he revealed.
The eight-time world champion obtained a “satisfactory” result in this test and his feelings on the bike were “positive”. The objective now focuses on the first pre-season test at the Sepang International Circuit in early February, for which Márquez will continue working with the intention of continuing to improve his physical condition to return in the best possible conditions.
