Marc Gasol: “I will make the decision to continue or not without any drama”

“I am available, for me it is important to finish the season on the track”

BARCELONA, 23 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The player and president of Bàsquet Girona, Marc Gasol, stated that he will make the decision whether or not to continue one more season on the slopes, again in the Endesa League after the permanence of his team, after contemplating the “complete photograph” of the situation and “no drama.”

“I will make the decision with distance and calm, taking stock of how the year has been. I will look at the photo in general to see if I can face the next challenge, and then I will start to make the decision but without any drama”, he assured in Press conference.

At the moment, Marc Gasol is available to play this Wednesday against Baskonia, at the end of the season and in Fontajau. “For me it is important to finish the season on the track, with my teammates,” he acknowledged.

“I feel prepared and for me it is a privilege to be able to do it at 34 years old. That after so many kilometres, playing the last acb game of the 22-23 season is special makes it all make more sense”, said the Catalan center .

In this Endesa League, Marc Gasol has played 29 of the 33 games with an average of almost 25 minutes on court. Time that is worth him to sign 10.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.2 blocks on average, for a valuation of 16.7 points.

But, beyond his future as a player, he is now focused on finishing the season well and celebrating his permanence. “Now we are at the point of enjoying the last game. We are at this moment, we have deserved to celebrate it with the people and this will be our focus,” he assured.

“Once the last game is over, we will focus on the next steps. Things have been done well that we will have to continue doing, there are other things to improve. But all this will be from Thursday, now we want to enjoy the last day in Fontajau, in the first season in the acb, in a calm way”, he was honest.

He also did not want to talk about the continuity on the bench of Aíto García Reneses, but he believes that they should make a global and complete reflection of the season. “I think we have solved several things that have been happening to us throughout the season. First we have to play well tomorrow and from Thursday look in the mirror and take stock. But first we have to celebrate staying at home,” he reiterated.

“We have more time to plan this summer, and now we know a little more about the ACB ecosystem, so we can detect the deficits we have. That does not guarantee anything, be careful, but you can know what to improve”, concluded the player-president of the Gironi club.
