Maradona's doctor: “For everyone the goal is their improvement”

Leopoldo Luque, Diego Maradona's doctor, highlighted this Friday the union of the medical team, the family and the environment of the former Argentine footballer to “seek his improvement as a goal”, after the debate that was formed by the time he must remain hospitalized.

“I want to highlight Diego's evolution and that the family is aligning itself, we noticed that, they all agree. It is clear to everyone that the goal is Diego's improvement. We all started to pull on the same side and that is very favorable, we have to highlight it, ”Luque said in the evening medical report that he gave at the Olivos Clinic in Buenos Aires, where the world soccer star is still hospitalized.

“The abstinence is due to the consumption of his whole life. We see a reaction of sweating, of anger, and we classify it as abstinence. That is why we did not want to let him go, we insisted. Now we see it very well, “added Luque, who highlighted his idea of keeping Maradona hospitalized at least until next Monday.

“The idea is that you stay until this process is finished, which varies depending on the patient. One estimates that until Monday for sure. The evolution of it will be seen, we do not put a specific day. All this is a joint decision with the therapy people, who are the ones who carry out the treatment ”, clarified the neurosurgeon.

Luque clarified that Maradona “is awake, but continues with sedation, which takes time for the body to eliminate it. The next step is to see if it is stable with these drugs orally, “he added.

Last June, the same doctor acknowledged in a television program that Maradona has “some anxiolytics prescribed for quite some time.”

Maradona was admitted on Monday to a clinic in the Buenos Aires city of La Plata for anemia, dehydration and a “low mood”, but undergoing more detailed check-ups he was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma for which he underwent surgery.

Last Friday, the day he turned 60, Maradona was at the Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata stadium, the club he directs, on the first day of the new Argentine tournament, but he retired after a few minutes visibly deteriorated and with problems of mobility.
